Candle Care & Safety Guide
Our candles are designed to be enjoyed both as décor pieces and as functional candles. Because many of our designs are sculptural, please note that they may burn differently to traditional jar candles.
Before Burning
- Always place your candle on a heat-safe, non-flammable dish, tray or plate before lighting.
- Trim the wick to approximately 5mm before each burn.
- Place the candle on a flat, stable surface away from drafts, open windows, fans or air conditioning.
- Keep candles away from curtains, bedding, books, paper, dried flowers and other flammable materials.
- Due to the handmade nature of each candle, slight variations in shape, colour and finish may occur.
- Frosting, small marks or subtle colour changes can occur due to the natural soy wax we use. This is completely normal and does not affect the quality or performance of the candle.
While Burning
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Never move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is still hot.
- Do not burn your candle near anything that may catch fire.
- Always keep the wax pool free from wick trimmings, matches or debris.
- Extinguish the candle if the flame becomes too high, flickers excessively or produces smoke.
- For sculptural candles, wax may drip or spill during burning, which is why a protective dish or tray is essential.
Burn Time Recommendations
- For best results, we recommend burning your candle for no longer than 2–3 hours at a time.
- Allow the candle to cool fully before relighting.
- Stop using the candle when approximately 1–2cm of wax remains at the base.
- Never allow the flame to burn directly against a surface, decorative element or container.
Decorative Use
Many of our customers choose to keep their candle as a decorative piece rather than burn it.
If displayed as décor:
- Keep out of direct sunlight to help preserve colour.
- Avoid placing candles near heaters, fireplaces or warm windows.
- Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Dust gently with a soft cloth if needed.
Body & Sculptural Candles
Our body candles, pregnancy candles and sculptural pieces are individually hand-poured and may have slight imperfections, air bubbles, frosting or seam lines. These details are a natural part of the handmade process and make each piece unique.
Because of their shape, sculptural candles can burn unevenly and may drip more than traditional candles. Always use a tray or plate underneath and never leave them burning unattended.
Disclaimer
By purchasing and using our candles, you acknowledge that burning candles involves an open flame and should always be done responsibly and with care.
